Edward S. Roberts diaries, 1861-1923.

Diaries kept by Edward S. Roberts of East Canaan, Connecticut. In 1862 Roberts, then an unmarried carriage maker, enlisted in the army, joining the Second Connecticut Heavy Artillery, Company F. He was discharged as a First Sergeant in 1865. Later in life Roberts would serve a two year term (1913-1915) as Treasurer for the State of Connecticut.
